Hey Everyone, I bet you thought I had died
or something.  Nope, I am still here.  My Vickie
writing this post and visiting as many of
my friends out there as she can, from her moms
computer.  Cause you know, we don't get much
juice out of our Internet.
It has been so bloody hot here that this
is what I do all day long
every day while My Vickie works at the
kennel.  We can't go anywhere cause
we have to make sure everything works
right and nothing goes wrong for our guests.
I am bored out of my gourd.
Oh yes, I get to go swimming every
now and again but nothing like what my
pal Dougal is doing these days.
He has moved to the east coast
and they live pretty near to this
very cool pond.

I am soooooo jealous.  WE miss him
a lot but we are happy that he is happy.
Our mountains are beautiful (so I hear)
cause I dont' get to get out in them much
these days.  I guess you know my
little bro  KC died a few weeks ago
from a snake bite.  Now My Vickie
is so paranoid that she has been going
up in the hills without me.
We have a really cute little neighbor that
moved in to our trees.  John got this
cool picture.  Anybody out there who
knows their birds wanna tell me
what this is?
My Vickie, her mom and Aunt, and John
went hiking up in the Alpine Meadows
this week.  It was incredibly beautiful...
(I am told)
So another reason I am banned
from our mountains
is a certain kind of seed, or weed, or seed from
a weed......I don't know, but it is a nasty thing
and My Vickie was wondering if anyone
knows what kind of flower it comes from
so we could know what areas to stay out of
in August and September.
I don't have a picture of it but it is a
thin black needle like sticker.  about half
an inch long and it hurts like the dickens
if you get one in your foot.  And they
just appear on your coat out of no where
and they get between your toes
and like that nasty cheat grass, the make
their way up into your skin and "Boy
they hurt"  Anybody know
what I am talking about?
This is my Buddy Wyatt.  He has
had a pretty rough start to his life.
He is only eleven months old and has
already lived in three different houses.
In one house, he was kept in a little
cage all the time.  That was for about
six months.  Anyway, long story short,
Wyatt came to live with My Vickie's mom
and they are both very happy.
Well, this is what I wish I were doing
but for the time being.......
Take care my friends and think of
me now and again.  My Vickie is going
to be staying with her mom for a while
cause she is very sick, so she is going
to drop by and visit as many as she can
Miss you all

  1. BERT!!!!! Buddy!!!!! We have been wondering how you are. We are so glad to see you. Sorry it has been boring at your place! This has been one hot summer, so we been kinda lazy too.
We were sooo sorry to hear about KC, glad to hear that Wyatt has joined the family.
hugs to you and Miss Vickie and Miss Vickie's Mom
    Bailey, Hazel & Greta

  2. We don't know what those evil weeds with the stickers are called, but we know what you are talking about. Luckily we don't have any of them on our neighborhood trails (no idea why...) so we can hike there, but no wild adventures for us, either! We've been doing lots of walks around the neighborhood and around shopping areas - and drinking lots of water. It's HOT!!! Stay cool, our friend (and maybe we could meet with Murphy and Stanley and have a swim date at some central location....)!

  3. Hey Bert! It has been so long since we saw you that you probably won't recognize us! Yup, we are sweating underr our atm pits it is so hot! Dad keeps the pool full for us. We can't hike either cuz of the snakes. The weather in Oregon was perfect for us. We are thinking about taking another vacation next month so we can go hiking. Maybe you will come to church in 2 weeks?

    Your Pals,

    Murphy and Stanley

  4. Hi Bert, great to hear from you! We hope your Vickie's Mom feels better soon, it cools off, and you get to go hiking. Is that too much to ask for?

    Happy Monday, sweet Bert!

  5. Hey Bert that is what they call a "Yellow Bird". You know buddy if it was not for me going to your place I would not be going anywhere. Why do the humans work so much. Thank for taken good care of me this weekend so my MOM could go do her thing at Camp Pinecliff. Someday I hope I get to take you up there. You would love it.

  6. Summer doesn't sound like much fun. Actually, we're limited in where we can go to.....snakes! So curl up in the cool.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

  7. Do you mean this Bidens thingy? Or Beggar's-tick? I agree that your Vickie is careful because of snakes and this weed. Yay for Wyatt that he found a fabulous home!

  8. Bert...I's been thinkin' bout you lots and wonderin what you's been up to. Sounds like a lot.....and nothing. Well, Miss Vicky has been pretty busy anyway. You just keep on takin' real good care of her and our best wishes and prayers for her Mom too. I know Wyatt is helping to take care of her Mom.

    Hugs to you, Buddy!

  22. Hey Bert!
Wow, I'm so very sorry about KC! I did not know that and I'm sad to hear the news. What beautiful pix for us today! I can understand why your Vickie wants to be extra careful for you. Congrats to Wyatt and Vickie's mom and I bet they make a happy pair.
    Grr and Woof,
    Sarge, Furiend

  23. I was very sorry to hear about KC. Your mama is good to protect you. I see you have Fireweed where you live too! Wyatt is a lucky dogger, bet the two of you will have lots of fun. It's good catching up with you!

  24. Hey Bert...we are so sorry to hear about KC. It is very difficult to lose a family member. Our hearts go out to you and your Vickie. We are also sorry to hear that your Vickie's mom is ill and we hope she feels better real soon. We are kinda glad that you aren't traipsing around in the woods getting attacked by weird things but we hope you get to swim soon! Missing you lots! Xoxo Chloe and LadyBug

  25. Oh Bert I'm so sorry you lost your friend. "Bored out of my gourd" has summed up a lot of the summer. It's either too hot or too rainy. When the weather cools down perhaps you can go out to the woods again; I hear the snakes hole up once it gets cold.

  26. Aw Bert, I'm sorry you're not having so much fun. And I am very sorry to hear about KC. Boredom is pretty rough, but not as rough as a snake bite. I hope the weather will cool down and those nasty spiky plants will go away so you can get back to your exciting adventures again!

  27. I was so very sorry to hear about KC. Those darn snake bites!

Is that beautiful bird a yellow warbler? Lucky you to get to see one!

No idea about the nasty seeds. We have to worry about cheat grass and foxtail. That stuff can get in noses and do big damage to a doggies lungs and worse.

Hope Your Vickie's mom is better.

  28. I'm so sorry for KC!

Beautiful landscapes and pictures, and the most beautiful are you, Bert!

  29. That is Sad to lose ur friend. But I glad ur Vickie's Mom did help another doggie. Now u has new friend!

  30. Hey Bert! We are stopping over to say Happy Friday! Xo Chloe and LadyBug

  31. LOVE that yellow Bird. WOW that seems to be a huge squirrel. Golden LOVE. Lots of Golden Woofs Sugar

  32. Hurray for Wyatt--he has a forever home! I hope your grandma gets better soon and I'm sure she will now that she has a little helper. I know she really was sad losing KC. Soon it will be fall and not so hot. Lady Caroline

  33. I have to say, once again, you live in the most beautimous place ever. Your mom is a fantastic photographer, too. Many hugs for you and your family! xx
